Exceeding the 1.5-degree Celsius limit has dire long-term implications. The study’s findings also indicate that our current trajectory is on track to breach the Paris Agreement’s 1.5-degree Celsius limit by 2030. To put this in perspective, Earth would need to endure an average of 20 years above this threshold before it could be officially declared breached.
